Yesterday at Hanshaw we had Thoughtful Thursday where students and staff wear tie-dye shirts or colorful clothes to represent our many emotions! Our students were able to identify the meaning of mental health and how to reach for support!

Wear White to Whiteout Negative Thoughts! On Tuesday for our Mental Health Week, students were able to share mindful messages in a postcard to boost mental health and build relationships!

On Monday for our Mental Health Week, students were able to grab chalk and write positive messages to our students and staff to boost their mental health!

The NAACP in collaboration with Modesto City Schools and other community organizations will celebrate African American students in 8th & 12th grades. The event will be hosted by Modesto High School on May 20, 2023 from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. Students will need to RSVP for this event.

Hanshaw Middle School had an eventful Cinco de Mayo! Our Hanshaw students and staff honored Hispanic heritage with a celebration of music provided by a DJ and a performance from Ballet Folklorico dancers during lunchtime.

Attention all Modesto High School incoming freshmen for the 2023-2024 school year. There will be a meeting for anyone interested in playing sports on May 1st, 2023. The meeting will be at Modesto High School in the Cafeteria. Come and meet all of your coaches. We look forward to seeing all of our new Panthers.

Interested in the United States Service Academies? The office of Congressman Tom McClintock (CA-05) is hosting a “Service Academy Information Night” at Beyer High School on Thursday, April 20. The event starts at 6 PM in the Beyer Little Theater. The event will include: • A presentation by Congressman McClintock’s office, as well as the various Service Academy representatives. • Q&A: Representatives will be available to answer questions after the presentation. Who should attend? • 7th – 11th Grade Students and Parents interested in the U.S. Service Academies. Information will be shared about the following Service Academies & programs: • United States Military Academy (USMA) • United States Naval Academy (USNA) • United States Air Force Academy (USAFA) • United States Merchant Marines Academy (USMMA) • United States Coast Guard Academy (USCGA) • Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC)

Hanshaw Titan's Yearbook orders are now being taken. If you purchase by March 31st the cost is $35. If you wait the cost will go up later. Purchases can be made in the office with cash or credit card during lunch or after school.

Hanshaw Middle School 7th grade students had the opportunity to join one out of the 4 Stand Together Workshops. This workshop was filled with social-emotional learning on how to deal with bullying, teasing, and other forms of harassment. This workshop helps reduce the amount of gossip on campus, increasing students’ values of others, having empathy towards others, and having a more hopeful outlook on life.
